Lenten Projects

Consider doing at least one project during Lent that reduces your carbon footprint permanently well past Lent. Some ideas:

  • Plant a tree!
  • Instead of throwing away broken items with high amounts of metal, disassemble and save for a trip to scrap metal site. Most will pay a modest amount for these items/parts.
  • Plant a garden, prioritizing organic methods.
  • Reduce the size of your lawn by planting native plants.
  • Replace incandescent or CFL lightbulbs with LED bulbs.
  • Install motion sensors or timers on lights in your home.
  • Switch to electronic statements/billing to reduce paper mail.
  • Try public transportation.
  • Set your computer to go to low energy mode after 15 minutes.
  • Evaluate electric options for lawn appliances (mowers, trimmer).
  • Make a donation to an environmental organization.
